Cpl. Harry Glover, 22, was killed in action in Italy Oct. 1, 1944, after being recently transferred from North Africa. His death marked the first Seatonville fatality. Glover was inducted September 16, 1942, at first serving stateside with the medical corps. He was sent overseas to North Africa in April, 1943, where he was a technician in a laboratory analyzing water for 16 months. He fell while serving with the 85th Division of the infantry in Italy. His brother, Marine Pvt. James Glover was also serving overseas somewhere in the South Pacific at the time of Harry’s death.
